When editing cfg files though, always make sure you use a hex editor that won't cause problems, such as Notepad. That way I can quickly and easily replace the default file without even launching the game.

At any rate, an easy fix to bring it back to stock is to just relocate and save the user.cfg file, then launch the game. Most on Steam say it runs OK on W10 though, so I have to think you messed something up in the user.cfg. On the PCGamingWiki, there's nothing listed for crashing problems, nor did I have any myself, at least not on W7 when I was running it.
